IMPORTANT NEWS UPDATE ON EHV-1...
Day 8 since the horse tested positive for the respiratory form of EHV-1. NO OTHER HORSES ON THE GROUNDS IN OCALA HAVE TESTED POSITIVE. There have been a few other positive tests away from the horse show grounds that can possibly be traced back to contact with the index horse of early last week. HITS in coordination with the Florida Department of Agriculture voluntarily quarantined the show grounds for a few days while more testing and research by the Department of Agriculture is carried out. Horse showing (at the suggestion of the Department of agriculture- as they feel that this is less stressful on the horses than stall confinement) is continuing in all rings and divisions. No horses are allowed to leave while this research is completed. Good bio- security is demanded of all tenants.
