Marshall & Sterling Announces New Vice Presidents and Senior Vice Presidents

Marshall & Sterling Insurance recently announced the promotion of five employees to the position of Vice President within the agency. The new Vice Presidents are: Chris Harris, Branch Manager of the Kingston, NY office; Yvonne McCrea, Director of Personal Lines; Katy Pagano, Director of Loss Control; Dan Round, Sr. Sales Executive in the Scotia, NY office, and; Tim Tarpey, Branch Manager of the Poughkeepsie offices.

Chris Harris came to Marshall & Sterling from Central Insurance, where he served as the Marketing Manager for New York, a position he held since 2012. A 35-year veteran of the insurance industry, Chris has served in leadership roles for a number of industry leading insurance companies including Travelers, Aetna, Nationwide, Preferred Mutual, Merchants and others. He has also served on a number of industry and affiliate boards, including IIACNY, OneBeacon, Preserver Group, Middlesex Mutual and more. Chris earned his Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Oswego, and also holds a CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) designation.

Yvonne McCrea came to Marshall & Sterling in 2010. She is a 15-year veteran of the insurance industry, and has also held several client support and management positions for other insurance agencies over the years. Yvonne has been a top Personal Lines producer for Marshall & Sterling every year, and has received numerous Sales Excellence Awards. She is also a member of Marshall & Sterling’s President’s Club. Yvonne was promoted to her current position as Director of Personal Lines in 2018. She earned her Associate’s Degree in marketing from SUNY Adirondack.

Katy Pagano began working for Marshall & Sterling in 2006. As Director of the Loss Control Division, Katy is responsible for the introduction, oversight and coordination of all risk management and loss control services offered to current and prospective clients. She holds a number of industry safety designations including OSHA 10 Construction, OSHA 30 Construction, OSHA 30 General Industry, Authorized OSHA Trainer, Certified Forklift Train-the Trainer, Advanced Safety Certificate (National Safety Council), ASSE (Risk Assessment Training), Certified Defensive Driver Instructor, Certified TIPS Trainer and Certified Code Rule 59/60 DOL Consultant. Katy holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Utica College of Syracuse University, and a Master’s Degree from Sage Graduate School.

After receiving his Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration from Roger Williams University, Dan Round started his career with Jardine Insurance Brokers in 1986. In 1994 Jardine Insurance Brokers was acquired by Marshall & Sterling. He has served as President of the Capital Region Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers Association (IIABA), and a member of the Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) Association Capital Region Advisory Council. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Northeastern New York Safety & Health Council, Inc. and Living Resources Corporation Foundation Board. Dan also previously served on the Board of American Red Cross of Northeast NY Chapter in 1990.

Tim Tarpey began his insurance career with Marshall & Sterling as a Sales Executive in 2008. His diverse background includes in-depth sales and account management experience with a Fortune 500 company, where he served as District Manager. Tim holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from SUNY Cortland New York, and is also active with a number of business and community organizations. Currently, he serves as a board member at the Grace Smith House, where he chairs the Buildings and Grounds committee, as well as chair for their key fund raiser “The Afternoon of Champions.”

Senior Vice Presidents
Marshall & Sterling Insurance would also like to announce the elevation of three of the agency’s leaders to the position of Senior Vice President: Jeanne Maloy from the Scotia, NY office; Greg Townsend from the Middletown, NY office, and; Ken Grey from the Leeds, NY office.

In 1980 Jeanne Maloy received a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and in Marketing with a minor in Economics from the State University of New York at Plattsburg. She started her career with Ter Bush and Powell in 1980 in Life & Benefits Accounting. Through an acquisition by Jardines Insurance Brokers Inc. she held positions as a staff accountant & Budgeting Coordinator and in 1985 was promoted to Assistant Controller. Marshall & Sterling acquired Jardines in 1994. In 2002 she was promoted to Office Manager and in 2005 made Operations Manager of the Glenville, Syracuse, Hoosick Falls and Utica operations as well as overseeing the financial department for Marshall & Sterling Upstate Inc. Jeanne was elected as a Director to the Marshall & Sterling Enterprises Board of Directors in 2018.

Greg Townsend joined Marshall & Sterling in 1979 as an Account Executive and quickly became a leading producer for our agency. He has also held public office as an Orange County Legislator, and has been involved in countless civic, public service and nonprofit organizations throughout his career. Greg was appointed Vice President and Branch Manager of our Middletown office in 2009, and also took over leadership of our Monticello office in 2014. He was appointed a Director in 2016. He has served as the County Legislator for the 7th Legislative District, and as Chairman of the Public Safety & Emergency Services Committee. He also served on the Personnel & Compensation Commission, Human Services and Education & Economic Development Committee, Health and Mental Health Commission, Southeast Orange Traffic Committee. Greg was elected as a Director to the Marshall & Sterling Enterprises Board of Directors in 2017.

Ken Grey began his insurance career in 1978 with St. Paul Companies as a Commercial Lines Underwriter. He held various positions throughout his tenure, including Property/Inland Marine Underwriter, Production Underwriter and Marketing and Marketing Manager. He received his B.A. in Political Science from Allegheny College and his MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1988. Ken has received designations for Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Certified Risk Manager (CRM). Ken is an adjunct instructor to the School of Business at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY.
