Marshall+Sterling has been serving the residents and businesses of the Virgin Islands since it opened its first office on St. Croix in 1967. The company increased its presence significantly in 1986 with the addition of Theodore Tunick & Co., a broker that had become one of the most prestigious agencies on the islands since its establishment in 1962. Over the years, we have grown through the acquisition of other local and dedicated brokers like Young-Clark (1984), CE Brathwaite & Co (1998) and Peoples Insurance (2007).

In 2019, the company added Employee Benefits to its service offerings, with the purchase of Baker Magras & Associates, and recently acquired Inter-Ocean Insurance Agency (2024).

We have repeatedly demonstrated our commitment to being a steadfast supporter for our clients and communities over 55 years, through some of the islands’ most trying times. In 2017, when the islands were battered by two category 5 hurricanes, our offices settled 6,000 claims totaling more than $770 million.

At the same time, Marshall+Sterling has become a major community supporter, contributing volunteers and money to dozens of non-profit, including donations totalling more than $200,000 since 2021 alone.
